Lawrence Earl Owen


Lawrence Earl Owen, my paternal great grandfather.


Lawrence Earl Owen was born on July 8th, 1901, in McLean, New York, son of William Nathaniel Owen (1864-1949), and Viola Searles (1863-1947). Lawrence was the second born, he had three sisters and one brother.


Lawrence attended school in Madison County, New York. By the age of 18, Lawrence's occupation was a labourer. He later married Christine Maria Cory on September 8th, 1928, Lawrence was 27 years of age. Lawrence and Christine had three children in four years. In 1942, at the age of 41, Lawrence was drafted into World War II. His mother, Viola passed away in 1947, Lawrence was 45, and his father passed in 1949 when Lawrence was 47 years of age.


Lawrence passed away on February 19th, 1961 at his home in DeRuyter, New York, he was 59 years of age. Lawrence was buried at Hillcrest Cemetery, DeRuyter, Madison County, New York.
