Thomas Norwood Brown Sr.
Thomas Norwood Brown was born on February 25th, 1879 in Emanuel, Georgia. He would be the fourth child of Lucy Yeomans and Lewis Brown. Thomas' father, Lewis was the first public school teacher in Emanuel County. His mother Lucy would stay home and raise 7 children in her lifetime.
Thomas followed in his father's footsteps as he grew older as he began teaching at The Graded School of Stillmore at the age of 20. Thomas would later meet the love of his life, Willie Cora Dudley, who was the music teacher at The Graded School of Stillmore. They married in the school auditorium.
Thomas worked his way up to principal at the school, he then later began studying law. He became a member of the Swainsboro Bar Association. He later became a representative in The Georgia House of Representatives. Thomas was a violinist and his wife played the piano.
Thomas and Willie had four children, one who would pass away in 1916 at the young age of 3. The other children would also become successful pillars of the community just like their parents.
Thomas would pass away at the young age of 51 due to a stroke. He leaves a great legacy, a long line of teachers and educators.
