Why did I start?

A common question I get is "Why did you start genealogy?" Thats a good question, but first I want to talk about why genealogy is so important. Knowing your family history gives you a better understanding of your identity. Genealogy will help you connect with other branches of your family tree that you never knew about. Genealogy is also a great way to develop strong research skills that may be very useful.

Now lets talk about why I personally started research. As a child, my favourite subject was history, and English. I was so interested in cultures and different religions. The only thing I really knew about my history was my father telling me that my ancestors were mostly from England and Ireland who later migrated to North America. By the age of 12 I was already doing my own research, I spent a lot of time doing research and taking genealogy classes. I still enjoy it very much and research daily. I can't put into words how much effort I put into genealogy and how much I enjoy mine, and other's history. I hope you enjoy my work as much as I do.
